Through partnerships with our Partner Agencies we:

  • Provide direct financial support
  • Raise awareness of their needs and of the services they provide
  • Publicize their successes

Our Partner Agencies have their histories intertwined with the Diocese of California. These agencies offer a broad range of services that are non-sectarian and available to all.

During his 27-year tenure, Bishop Swing reaffirmed the Diocese's commitment to "stay in the streets and in the broken lives" of those in need. "Not in recent memory has it been so hard to do what we do", said the Bishop. "Never has the risk been greater with our financial exposure so large, but we will not walk away."

Bay Area Seafarers' Service Center
BASS serves over 5,000 merchant sailors, dockworkers and long shore workers yearly. Ship visits are provided by Roman Catholic, American Baptist, Presbyterian and Episcopal ordained and lay chaplains. www.sfbayfarer.org

Berkeley Food and Housing Project
BFHP provides emergency services to those in need in Berkeley. Services begin with hot meals and emergency shelter, and carry on to transitional housing, and links with health, mental health, drug treatment, and employment services. Permanent housing placement and long-term case management assist people in functioning again as productive members of society. www.bfhp.org/

Canal Alliance
Canal Alliance is a community-based organization serving the very low-income, largely immigrant Canal neighborhood of San Rafael in Marin County. Canal Alliance has a wide range of programs that assist family members of all ages, and at all stages of need from critical support through stability and eventually, to prosperity. These programs include English as a Second Language, Immigration Legal Services, Multicultural Family Advocacy, Youth Education and Development Programs, Parent Leadership Training, and a Community Technology Center. www.canalalliance.org/

Clausen House
Clausen House has been serving adults with developmental disabilities since 1967. Its services include residential facilities, job training and placement, adult education, independent living services and recreation. They currently serve 180 men and women. Clausen House was founded by St. Paul's Parish in Oakland and is the first residential facility in Alameda County for developmentally disabled adults. www.clausenhouse.org

Episcopal Community Services
ECS began serving the homeless people of San Francisco 15 years ago on 10 cots in the basement of Grace Cathedral. Today, ECS operates 9 programs at 8 facilities, serving more than 6,000 people annually. ECS provides services through The Episcopal Sanctuary, Multi-Service Center North, Canon Kip Community House, Canon Kip Senior Center, Skills Center for Adult Education, C.H.E.Fs, and Canon Barcus House. www.ecs-sf.org

Episcopal Senior Communities
Episcopal Senior Communities owns and operates 5 full life care communities for seniors, 3 facilities for low income seniors, establishes fresh food pantries and markets in low income senior housing and provides outreach, entertainment and education via telephone conferencing for homebound seniors via its Senior Center Without Walls. www.ehf.org

The Family Link
The Family Link seeks to serve people with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses by offering hospitality to their visiting family members and friends. Established in 1985, The Family Link provides a safe, affordable, "home away from home" where guests, staff, and volunteers create an atmosphere of friendship and trust. www.thefamilylink.com

Good Samaritan Family Resource Center
Good Sam serves approximately 1200 low-income children, youth and their families living the greater Mission area of San Francisco. They provide comprehensive and holistic services guided by Family Support Principles and Youth Development practices. Services provided include: after school tutoring, enrichment and sports, family planning and health services, mental health support, cultural activities/projects, family advocacy, and a myriad of supportive, educational and community building services. www.goodsamfrc.org

Interfaith Hospitality Network of San Mateo
IHN serves homeless families by offering a day center, food, and temporary shelter in churches and synagogues throughout San Mateo County. www.familypromise.org

Ohlhoff Recovery Programs
Since 1957, Ohlhoff Recovery Programs has aggressively tackled the substance and alcohol abuse issues that tear families apart. Their services include specialized programs to meet the needs of adolescents, women and the working poor. www.ohlhoff.org

St. Dorothy's Rest
This rustic conference center offers an annual summer respite for critically ill children, all of them patients of the Lucille S. Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford or the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. Reaching its centennial in 2002, St. Dorothy's is the oldest continuously operating summer camp in California. www.stdorothysrest.org

St. Luke's Neighborhood Clinic
St. Luke's Neighborhood Clinic has 7 sites providing access to doctors 24 hours a day (on an on-call basis) to a medically underserved community. It is an approach that includes preventative health measures, health screenings, pharmacy fees, physician visits and the treatment of chronic conditions. www.stlukes-sf.org

Sojourn Chaplaincy at San Francisco General Hospital
Sojourn offers a multi-faith nonjudgmental ministry of presence, and pastoral care training for the broad multicultural mix of patients, their loved ones, the staff of San Francisco General Hospital and the community. Since 1982 Sojourn has practiced the mission described in its name: "to stay with for a time." We offer compassion and understanding to patients, their loved ones, and to staff of SFGH, regardless of faith. www.sojournchaplaincy.org

Tri-City Homeless Coalition
TCHC has provided services to homeless people since 1989. It is a unique organization providing transitional shelter and comprehensive support services to the suburban cities of southern Alameda County (Fremont, Newark, Hayward and Union City). It has grown from space donated by local churches to an effective transitional shelter program. www.tricityhomeless.org
